About the Knights of Columbus
A Global Organization
The Knights of Columbus has become the world’s foremost men’s Catholic fraternal benefit society. The organization, founded in 1882 by Fr. Michael J. McGivney, has grown to over 1.8 million members and over 13,000 councils throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan. The Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity. Throughout its history, the Knights of Columbus has been an effective advocate and defender of civil and religious rights for all. Cumulative figures show that during the past decade, the Knights of Columbus has donated nearly $1.28 billion to charity, and provided in excess of 612 million hours of volunteer service in support of charitable causes.
Our St. Timothy Council
Our St. Timothy Council is active in the community with Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics, Birth Choice, Toby’s House, Intellectual Disability Drive, Red Cross Drive, Wheelchair Foundation,, Food Drives, E-Waste Drive, and homeless shelter meal preparation, just to name a few. At the parish level we do Pancake Breakfasts, Fish Fry Dinner, Summer BBQ, St. Patrick’s Day Dinner, Octoberfest Dinner, Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance, Poinsettia Sales, Youth Ice Cream Social and Spring Fling BBQ. We are also very proud to be contributing to the financial support of our St. Timothy seminarian and Knight, Quan Tran. In the past year our council has raised and donated over $8000 to various charities and volunteered over 2,400 hours of time. Consider being a Knight! Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church. Being a Knight is more than camaraderie; it is being involved with your community; it is supporting your parish, while enhancing your own faith.
